Eight students from Salk STEM Middle School advanced to the regional level of competition in the first-ever Minnesota Civics Bee as part of the National Civics Bee hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Following a highly competitive school science fair at SMS in December with more than 500 projects judged by community volunteers, 37 Salk students advanced to the Regional Fair. At the Regional Fair, 23 Salk Middle School student projects (out of more than 350 regional entries) have qualified for the Minnesota State Science Fair, with an additional four projects named as alternates.

The ISD 728 School Board continued its dedicated effort to recognize student leadership at is regular meetings. On January 12, 2026, leaders from Hassan Elementary School of Rogers and Salk STEM Magnet School in Elk River were honored for their roles in their schools.

At its regular Board Meeting in early December, the ISD 728 School Board took time to honor and present certificates to student leaders from around the District, continuing a time-honored tradition.
