About Us

Welcome to Salk Middle School

Salk Middle School is a grade 6-8 middle school and part of Independent School District 728. Salk is a STEM-themed magnet school and part of the Northwest Suburban Integration School District.  Due to our Pre-Engineering magnet program, our student population includes students within the district from our attendance zone, students from across our school district and students from surrounding districts within the Northwest Suburban Integration School District.   Our school population consists of approximately 850 students and over 80 staff members this school year.

Salk Middle School offers a core curriculum in the areas of English, Math, Social Studies and Science, as well as the areas of Art, Computer Coding, Industrial Technology, World Language, Health, Family and Consumer Science and Physical Education.  The STEM themes, project-based instruction, and inquiry strategies are interwoven across all content areas.  Although some courses specifically have a technology focus, we support the purposeful use of technology in all courses.    As a staff, we strongly support our advisory program, exploratory opportunities, and interdisciplinary curriculum concepts.   Our expert staff works diligently to create a learning environment that is safe and supportive, that aligns with the needs of the early adolescent, and focuses on academic and personal success.

Thank you for your ongoing interest in your child’s education and the success of Salk Middle School.  It is my hope that you will find our website a valuable resource.  It is our desire to keep parents and community members informed and up to date on school activities and happenings.
